Prof. Dr. Rolf Meincke
a life for the geography and his students
On 15 February 2010, Prof. Dr. Rolf Meincke died - for us all by surprise. The more it makes us concerned, to lose such a fun-loving colleague and friend. His scientific work began
1956, just after completing his studies, as an assistant the School of Education in Didactics of geography. Linked to this was also the beginning of a successful teaching for decades. Many will remember Prof. Dr. Meincke as their "methodology Prof" while studying in Greifswald - to those who taught us how geography should be taught in the school of interest and can. Especially after 1990, Prof. Dr. Meincke one for the survival of the area of geography teaching at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald. Forgotten his commitment to our specialist about the University is out. He worked constructively as chairman of the Curriculum Commission geography of the Ministry of Culture of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and initiated in 1990 the National Association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the German School Association of Geographers. Many will no doubt recall the 25th German Schulgeographentag in 1996 with the motto "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - gateway to the north and east bridge to the" successful implementation of its organization and Prof. Dr. Meincke had a decisive role.
Because of his contributions to the school geography was honored Prof. Dr. Rolf Meincke in 2000 with the William-Walter-pulse medal.
